The championship races

Each race page: editing a single race, server files, public page and Discord card.

Every championship race has its own page, just like a ForFun: there you prepare the race night, upload the files to the server, share the race card and, after the race, publish the results.

Opening a race

On the championship page click a track in the Calendar, or Open the round in the next race box. At the top you see the championship name and Round 5 of 8.

1 Editing the race

Edit round opens the same form as a ForFun. You can change track, day and time, and also sessions, weather, rules and passwords for this race only.

  • If you change sessions, weather or rules, the race becomes Different from the championship and from then on keeps its own settings.
  • Restore from the championship makes it follow the season format again.
  • You can also choose a different scoring for this race only (for example double points in the final).
If the championship is published and you change date, time, track or format, entrants get a message with the new schedule. If you save without changing anything, no message is sent.

2 Race details

The Race details box sums up sessions, weather and rules as drivers will see them, and says whether they are as the championship or different. If a race has no format yet, the box tells you and offers two choices: Use the season format or Configure only this race.

3 Files for the server

The game server needs three files in its cfg folder:

  • event.json: track, sessions and weather;
  • eventRules.json: pit stops and race rules;
  • entrylist.json: names and numbers of the entrants.

With a linked server click Upload all files: RaceControl puts them on the server for you. Without a linked server, Download all (.zip) and copy the cfg folder to the server (for example from the G-Portal panel), then restart the server.

Next to each file you see its status: Ready, On the server โœ“ or To update when, for example, a new driver signs up after the upload.

If two races use the same server at the same time, the files of one replace the files of the other: the page warns you.

4 Results

After the end of the race the Import results button becomes active. How it works is explained in Results and standings.

5 Public page and Discord card

  • Public page: the race card drivers see, with track, times, entrants and, after the race, the results. The link can be shared.
  • Discord card: an image ready to post in your channel, with the championship name, track, date and a QR code that leads to the race page.
  • Starting grid: to prepare a reversed or custom grid.

Once the race has started

From the start the race is read-only: date, track and format can no longer change, because drivers have already raced with those settings. You can still manage the race results, scoring and entry list, for post-race corrections.

Adding or removing a race

To add or move races use Edit championship โ†’ Calendar (see Editing a championship). To remove a race not yet run use Delete among the actions of its page (then confirm with Delete round): entrants get a message. A race already run cannot be deleted.
