Results and standings
Importing results after each race, the checks, double races, standings and corrections.
After each race you load the results files written by the server: RaceControl checks they are the right ones, calculates the points, updates the standings and tells the drivers.
Where the results are
At the end of each session the game server writes a file in its results folder, with a name like 261113_213000_R.json
(date, time and session type: Q qualifying, R race, FP practice).
With a linked server you can pick them straight from the server; otherwise download them from the server panel and upload them from your computer.
Importing the results of a race
- Open the race page and click Import results (active once the race is over). You also find it in To do on the championship page.
- Choose the files of the night (all sessions together) from your computer or from the server.
- Read the checks 1.
- Click Save event (all sessions) 2: the results are linked to the race and you go back to its page.
| # | Driver | R1 | R2.1 | R2.2 | Total |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| 1 | LR_Racing | 25 | 15 | 18 | 58 |
| 2 | Apex_Marco | 15 | 16 | 25 | 56 |
| 3 | Fede_77 | 18 | 25 | 12 | 55 |
The checks
- Track: if the files are from another track, the import is blocked. That is the typical case of the files of the wrong race.
- Date and time: warns you if the files are from a different day than the race.
- Sessions: warns you if the number of qualifying sessions and races does not match the format (for example qualifying is missing).
- Empty sessions: warns you if a session has no drivers or no laps (for example an empty practice).
- Unregistered drivers: warns you if someone who is not registered for the championship raced, with their names. They count in the standings like the others. With RaceControl's entry list on the server this cannot happen, because the server only lets in the drivers on the list: the warning tells you the server used another file that night. After the import the warning stays visible on the race page.
With a yellow warning you can still import (you are asked to confirm); with a red block you cannot.
If the results were already imported
If you already imported the night from Import results in the top menu, on the race page use Link event and choose the event: the same checks apply. Unlink removes the results from the race (for example if you linked the wrong event).
The message to drivers
As soon as the results are linked, accepted entrants get the message Race results available, with a link to the results and one to the standings. The message is sent only once per race: if you unlink and link again, no second message is sent.
The standings 3
The standings add up the points of every session that awards them, according to the race's scoring model. On the Standings page you find:
- a column for each session with points:
R1is the race of round 1. If a round has two races, the columns becomeR2.1andR2.2; the same goes for two qualifying sessions, if the scoring awards qualifying points; - the total, each driver's best race highlighted and a lightning bolt for the fastest lap;
- tabs for the categories (if on) and the constructors standings (in team championships);
- Export Excel, with one sheet for the overall standings and one for each category.
Names in the standings come from the championship entry list: if a driver changed their in-game name, the standings keep the name they signed up with.
Fixing things after the race
- Wrong scoring: on the race page change the race's scoring model; the standings recalculate by themselves.
- Wrong results: Unlink the event and import the right files.
- Penalties and finishing order: open the session from the race results and use Penalties or Edit arrival order. Standings, results and statistics always use the corrected order.
What drivers see
On the championship public page (the link you share) drivers, even without an account, see standings, calendar, the results of every race and statistics, from a computer or a phone.
