Registrations and drivers

Accepting drivers, waiting list, race name and number, entry list and messages to drivers.

Drivers sign up for the championship once: the registration is valid for every race. You decide who gets in, and accepted drivers end up automatically in the list of who races (the entry list).

How drivers sign up

When the championship is published and registrations are open, drivers find it in their Driver area or by opening the public page link you shared. They fill in a short form: preferred car number, team name (optional), category and a note for you.

With automatic acceptance they get in straight away while there are spots. With I decide they stay pending approval until you answer. When spots run out and the waiting list is on, new drivers go to the waiting list: as soon as a spot frees up, the first in line moves up by itself and gets a message.

The registrations page

From the championship page click Manage in the Registrations box (or Review in To do). For each driver you see status, team, note and request date. The actions:

  • Accept: the driver joins the championship and the entry list, and gets a message.
  • Reject: the driver is told and does not get in.
  • Cancel (for a driver already accepted): leaves the entry list and the spot frees up.

With Name and number in race you fix the name, short name or number the driver will have on the server: the driver gets a message with the new details. The admin note is visible only to you.

If spots have run out, free a spot or raise the number of spots in the championship edit page before accepting someone.

Opening and closing registrations

Registrations close by themselves on the chosen date (usually the day before the first round). You can also close them right away with Close registrations now and reopen them with Reopen registrations.

The entry list

The entry list is the file that tells the game server who can race, with which name and number. RaceControl keeps it up to date with accepted drivers. From the championship page you can open it to check it or add a driver by hand (you need their Steam ID).

Whenever the entry list changes, the race page tells you that entrylist.json must be uploaded to the server again: otherwise new drivers cannot join with their name and number.

Messages to drivers

RaceControl sends drivers a message in their site inbox (the envelope icon at the top) when:

  • their registration is accepted or rejected, or they move from the waiting list to a free spot;
  • you change the date, time, track or format of a race, or remove it from the calendar;
  • you publish the results of a race (only to accepted drivers).

While the championship is a draft no message is sent.
