Editing a championship
Changing calendar, format and settings during the season, without touching the races already run.
A championship can be changed even after the season has started: RaceControl applies the changes only to the races not yet run and tells the entrants what changes.
The edit page
On the championship page click Edit championship. The same form as the creation opens, already filled in. On the right, the What will change box always shows the effect of your changes: how many rounds will be updated, how many added or removed, and which stay as they are.
What you can change
- Name, season, description, car group: they change everywhere right away.
- Calendar: add a track by clicking it, remove a round with ✕ (a padlock marks a locked round), move it with the arrows or change its date. Rounds already run are locked: they cannot be moved or removed.
- Race format and timings: they go to every round not yet run that follows the championship. Rounds marked Different keep their own settings.
- Scoring: applies to the whole season, races already run included (the standings recalculate). Races with their own scoring keep it.
- Registrations: opening, spots, acceptance, closing and waiting list.
- Server and access: server, passwords and note for drivers, on the rounds not yet run.
Click Save changes: you go back to the championship page with a summary of what changed.
Changing only the race format
If you only need to change sessions, weather or rules, on the championship page click the race format in Season settings. The season format page opens: the format on the left, the list of rounds on the right.
- Ticked rounds will follow the new format. Untick a round to leave it as it is (it becomes Different).
- Already raced rounds have no checkbox: they never change.
Click Save the format. Entrants get a single message listing the races that changed.
Messages to entrants
When the championship is published, entrants (accepted, pending or on the waiting list) get a message if:
- you move the date or time of a race, or change its track;
- you change the format of one or more races;
- you remove a race from the calendar.
If you save without changing anything, or if the championship is still a draft, no message is sent.
Races already run
A race counts as already run from the moment it starts. From then on its date, track and format never change, not even from the championship edit page, because drivers have already raced with those settings. Its results, scoring and entry list can still be changed.
