Create a championship

From the name to the calendar, race format, scoring and registrations: one page, top to bottom.

A championship is a series of races (the rounds) with standings that add up the points of every race. You create it from a single page: fill it in from top to bottom and on the right you see how drivers will see it.

Organizer pages are designed for a computer. Drivers can follow the championship from their phone too.

A few words to know

Round
One race of the championship, on a track and on a date. An 8-race championship has 8 rounds.
Session
One part of the race night: practice, qualifying, race. A round can also have two of the same type (for example two qualifying sessions and two races).
Race format
Sessions, weather and rules (pit stops, tyres, refuelling) together. You set it once and it applies to every round.
Scoring model
The table that says how many points each position earns (for example 25 for first, 18 for secondโ€ฆ).
Entry list
The list of drivers allowed to race, with name, number and category. It fills itself with the drivers you accept.
Game server
The Assetto Corsa Competizione server where you race (for example one rented on G-Portal). RaceControl prepares the files to put on the server.

Open the page

At the top click Personal Area, then the Championships box and finally New championship. The page is split into sections: the ones with an empty dot must be completed before publishing.

1. The championship

Type the name (for example GT3 Autumn Cup), the season and the car group (GT3, GT4โ€ฆ or All). The description is optional: you can put your rules or the link to your Discord there.

2. The calendar

Click the tracks in the order they are raced: each click adds a round and its number appears on the track photo. You can click the same track more than once.

  • Choose the date of the first round, the start time and how often you race (every week, every 2 or 4 weeks), then Recalculate the dates.
  • The โธ button skips a week (for example for holidays) and moves all the following rounds forward.
  • The โ†‘ โ†“ arrows change the order; you can also change the date of a single round by hand.
The round number always follows the dates: if you move a race before another one, the numbers update by themselves.

3. The race format

Here you decide what each race night looks like. It applies to every round: if one race must be different (for example a long race) you change it later, in that round only.

  • Sessions: practice, qualifying and race, with their length in minutes. With + Qualifying and + Race you can also build formats with two qualifying sessions and two races: each race awards its own points.
  • Weather: clear, variable or rain. With Adjust the values you choose temperature, clouds and how much the weather changes.
  • Race rules: mandatory pit stops, pit window, maximum stint, tyre sets and refuelling.

4. Scoring

Choose a scoring model: you immediately see how many points each position is worth. If none fits, New model creates one and brings you back here with the model already selected.

If drivers have a category (Bronze, Silver, Gold, Platinum) turn on Standings by category: besides the overall standings there will be one for each category, even with different points.

5. Registrations

When registrations are open, drivers find the championship in their area and can sign up by themselves.

  • Acceptance: Automatic (whoever signs up gets in, while there are spots) or I decide (you accept or reject each driver).
  • Spots: the maximum number of drivers. With the waiting list, late drivers wait for a spot to free up.
  • Closing: the day before the first round or a date of your choice.

Accepted drivers are added automatically to the entry list, with name, number, short name and category.

6. Server and access

If you linked your game server (from the menu with your name, top right โ†’ FTP server), choose it here: RaceControl reads name and password and can upload the race files for you. Without a linked server, choose No server and type the server name and the password by hand.

The drivers password is shown only to accepted drivers. The guests password is shown only to you. In the note for the drivers you can write, for example, what time to join.

The timings between sessions (waits between qualifying and race, in seconds) and the advanced options (team championship, who can see the championship) already have good values: change them only if you need to.

7. Draft or publish

The bar at the bottom of the page tells you what is missing. To publish you need: name and a calendar with dates, a format with at least one race and a scoring model.

  • Save draft: saves your work even if something is missing. Nobody sees the championship.
  • Publish the championship: the championship becomes visible according to Who can see it (everyone, only people with the link, only me) and drivers can sign up.

After saving you land on the championship page, where you manage everything else.
